Mercy Global Health is a relatively new player on the global health scene, providing balanced, impactful and innovative solutions to common and unique global health challenges. Mercy Global Health is lead by Dr. Mohamad (Moe) Assoum, Infectious Disease Epidemiologist and Global Public Health Specialist.

Managing Director:

Dr. Mohamad (Moe) Assoum is an infectious disease epidemiologist and global health specialist. His background in public health, infectious disease epidemiology (notably in the neglected tropical disease), GIS, remote sensing and medical geography, have enabled him and his teams to develop innovative methodologies and mobilise resources to treat over 750 million people throughout 20 countries since 2011. His previous experiences include consultancy roles at the WHO, and leading the NTD portfolio at the Children's Investment Fund Foundation. Most recently he was the Principal Advisor on programs and partnerships for the Global Institute for Disease Elimination.

Principal Consultant:

Dr Jelte Elsinga, MD, PhD is an infectious disease epidemiologist and medical doctor based out of Utrecht, The Netherlands. Dr Elsinga specialises in vector-borne infectious diseases with a keen interest in mosquito-borne disease, interdisciplinary research, mixed methods research, patient behaviour and implementation of health programs.

Program Officer:

Alexa Murray has a Masters in Public Health and specialises in infectious disease program management.

Fun Facts About Our Team

In his free time, Dr Assoum moonlights as the author of critically acclaimed science fiction/ fantasy novel series A Dance of Storms and Shadows. The novels are titled: Strike of Lightning and Echo of Thunder. Book 3 will be released later this year.
Dr Elsinga comes from a talented musical family and is an avid maker and producer of music himself.
